One village. Twenty-four Villagers. Baring all to raise money to help beat breast cancer and testicular cancer.

The project was the brainchild of a small group of ladies from the village of Clawddnewydd near Ruthin in Denbighshire, North Wales.

Headed by Sharon Jones, the group took the initiative after seeing the 2008 “Cheeky Chappies” charity calendar shot by photographers Jayne and Chris Birchall.

“We had been talking about about doing something like this for a few years” said Sharon, “But we never got around to doing anything about it. We thought a calendar would be a wonderful way of raising money for the Cancer Charities and when we saw that Jayne and Chris had shot the 2008 one, it gave us the impetus to go ahead”.

Luckily the Birchalls agreed to do another one this year. “Actually, we didn’t give them much choice but to say yes!”, she added.

So why is the calendar called “Beauty and the Beast“? All was  revealed (in more ways than one)  at the official launch October 24th of what is heralded as Britain’s first double-sided unisex charity calendar.

The official presentation of the money raised takes place during the special presentation party night at the Glan Llyn Inn, Clawddnewydd on 31st January.
